More Than Just a Polish

Paint correction is a precision machine-polishing process that physically removes defects from your vehicle's clear coat — producing a true mirror finish.

Most "shiny" cars on the road today are hiding defects under a layer of wax or fillers. Look at any dark vehicle in direct sunlight and you'll see them — circular swirl marks, web-like scratches, dull patches, and water etching. These come from automatic car washes, improper washing, environmental fallout, and time.

Paint correction permanently removes those defects by using machine polishers and specialized compounds to level the clear coat. Unlike wax or glaze, which only mask defects temporarily, paint correction physically removes them.

The result: deeper color, sharper reflections, and the kind of mirror gloss your vehicle had the day it left the factory — or better.

The Foundation of Every Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coating bonds to whatever surface it's applied to. If applied over swirl marks, those defects are sealed in for years. That's why every Prima ceramic coating package includes the appropriate level of paint correction.

How Paint Correction Works at Prima

Every paint correction follows the same disciplined process — no shortcuts, no fillers, no hidden defects sealed under glaze.

1

Inspection

Paint depth measured, defects identified under LED light, correction level recommended.

2

Decontamination

Foam wash, iron fallout removal, and clay bar treatment to strip embedded contaminants.

3

Test Spot

Small area corrected first to confirm pad and compound combination produces best result.

4

Correction

Machine polishing executed in passes — compound stage first, refinement polish stage last.

5

Final Inspection

Panels wiped with IPA solution, results inspected under LED, before/after photos taken.

The Difference Comes Down to Discipline

Paint correction is a craft. Plenty of detailers will sell you a "polish" — but the difference between a real correction and a cosmetic shine is everything.

🔬

Paint Depth Measured

We use a paint thickness gauge before we start. Removing too much clear coat is permanent — we work within safe limits, every time.

💡

LED Inspection Lights

Every panel is inspected under high-CRI LED inspection lighting. Defects that hide in normal lighting are visible — and corrected.

🚫

No Fillers, No Glazes

We never use products that hide defects temporarily. What you see at delivery is the actual paint — not a chemical disguise that washes off.

📸

Before & After Documented

Every correction is photographed before and after. You see exactly what was done — and you can verify the results yourself.

🛡️

Carfax Reporting

When paired with ceramic coating, the service is reported to Carfax — adding documented value to your vehicle at resale.

Paint Correction Questions Answered

The most common questions we get about paint correction in Omaha.

Paint correction at Prima is custom-quoted based on your vehicle's size, paint condition, and the level of correction needed. Pricing typically starts around $400 for a Stage 1 enhancement polish, $800 for a Stage 2 two-stage correction, and $1,400+ for Stage 3 multi-stage work. Paint correction is included free with all Prima ceramic coating packages ($699–$1,599).
Paint correction is a multi-step machine-polishing process that permanently removes defects from your vehicle's clear coat — including swirl marks, micro scratches, oxidation, water spots, etching, and paint haze. Unlike fillers or wax that mask defects, paint correction physically levels the clear coat to remove them, producing a true mirror finish.
Look at your paint under direct sunlight or LED light. If you see circular swirl marks, web-like scratches, dull or hazy areas, water spots that won't wash off, or holograms from prior buffing, your vehicle needs paint correction. Most daily-driven vehicles develop visible swirl marks within 1–2 years, especially if washed at automatic car washes.
Yes. Paint correction physically removes a microscopic layer of clear coat to level out defects — the results are permanent. However, new defects can form from improper washing, automatic car washes, or accidental contact, which is why we recommend ceramic coating after correction to protect the freshly corrected paint.
Yes. Ceramic coating bonds to whatever surface it's applied to — including any existing defects. If you apply ceramic coating over swirl marks or scratches, those defects are sealed in for the life of the coating. All Prima ceramic coating packages include the appropriate level of paint correction so you start with a flawless surface.
A Stage 1 enhancement polish typically takes 4–6 hours. A Stage 2 two-stage correction takes 8–12 hours, often spread across two days. Stage 3 multi-stage show-car correction can take 16–24+ hours depending on paint condition. We provide a realistic timeline during your consultation.
Not when done correctly. Paint correction removes a microscopic layer of clear coat — typically less than 5 microns — to level out defects. Modern clear coats are 40–60+ microns thick, so there's plenty of margin. We measure paint depth before, during, and after correction to ensure we stay within safe limits. A vehicle can typically be corrected 3–5 times in its lifetime without compromising the clear coat.
A polish typically refers to a single-step process that adds gloss but doesn't fully remove defects — often using fillers that wash off after a few washes. Paint correction is a multi-step machine process that physically levels the clear coat to permanently remove defects. Stage 1 (enhancement polish) is technically a single polish step, but performed without fillers and with measured paint depth — closer to a true correction than what most shops sell as a "polish."
